Man On The Street at Geoweek: LiDAR Trends

February 28, 2022

Geo Week 2022 took place at the Colorado Convention Center, and iMerit spoke with various geospatial experts about how LiDAR will transform the geospatial sector.

Here are the key takeaways:

  • There will be a big push for LiDAR in surveying. As LiDAR units can get very close to the ground and provide fast and accurate results, surveyors will embrace them for topographic surveying.
  • By incorporating LiDAR data into lighter, affordable and more accessible platforms, there is no longer a paywall for accessing, managing and creating really high-quality, high-accuracy products.
  • Today, the LiDAR and remote sensing industry is looking to integrate the many different tools, platforms, and services that they’re using into a unified workflow that optimizes operations and helps them scale quicker. Hence, there is an opportunity to step in and develop a platform or a service that can integrate all the elements, despite different sensors and manufacturers having their own data formats.
