Geo Week 2022 took place at the Colorado Convention Center, and iMerit spoke with various geospatial experts about how LiDAR will transform the geospatial sector.
Here are the key takeaways:
- There will be a big push for LiDAR in surveying. As LiDAR units can get very close to the ground and provide fast and accurate results, surveyors will embrace them for topographic surveying.
- By incorporating LiDAR data into lighter, affordable and more accessible platforms, there is no longer a paywall for accessing, managing and creating really high-quality, high-accuracy products.
- Today, the LiDAR and remote sensing industry is looking to integrate the many different tools, platforms, and services that they’re using into a unified workflow that optimizes operations and helps them scale quicker. Hence, there is an opportunity to step in and develop a platform or a service that can integrate all the elements, despite different sensors and manufacturers having their own data formats.
