Who is eligible to work as an iMerit Scholar?
We work with Scholars in almost every country in the world. As long as you are legally permitted to work in your country of residence, you can apply to work with us. We review qualifications and conduct assessments to determine which specific projects you may be invited to work on. Please note that we make no guarantee that we will be able to provide work.
How do I sign up?
You can complete our simple application process in under 30 minutes. Please note that you may need to undergo a background check in order to start working with us. You can either apply for a specific job, or join our candidate pool to be informed when new jobs are available. Click here to start.
How do I work?
The only equipment you need is a modern computer and internet connection. The majority of Scholars work is conducted through your web browser. If necessary, we may provide you with specialist software to complete more complex tasks. iMerit provides all the instructions and required information to work.
Am I paid for overtime or public holidays?
We ask that Scholars work a maximum of eight hours each day. There is no eligibility for overtime or additional pay for work performed on public holidays.
Can I work for iMerit if I already have a full-time job?
As long as you have not entered into an agreement with your existing employer that explicitly prevents additional work, you can work with us as a Scholar even if you have a full-time job. Our flexible consulting contracting model allows you to choose projects and work hours that fit your schedule.
How much income can I make?
We pay competitive rates that match your specialty, experience level, and location. Some of our most experienced experts earn up to $500 per hour. The amount of work and income may vary according to our clients’ needs and the complexity of available work. As such, you should not rely on Scholars work as your sole source of income.
How and when do I get paid?
Through our platform, you submit a timesheet and invoice us every week. The first payment may take up to four weeks after the invoice. After the first payment, you are paid within 3 weeks of correct timesheet submission, via a direct bank transfer. Currently, we do not use PayPal or other online money transfer services.
Will I be a full time permanent employee?
Work via Scholars is categorized as flexible consulting employment.
What will I be taxed?
As a contractor, you are responsible for your own tax reporting and compliance. iMerit provides all of the required info for you to file taxes with your local tax authority.
Where is iMerit based?
Our main corporate entity is based in the US (but you do not need to be based in the US to work with us). Our address is 160 West Santa Clara St. Suite 600. San Jose, CA 95113. iMerit has over 5,000 full-time global employees and centers in India, Bhutan, and the US.
What should I do if I haven’t heard back from iMerit?
If you have provided your information to us, and received an initial confirmation email that your information was received, please rest assured that we will contact you when suitable work becomes available.
What languages does iMerit work in?
We work on projects in a variety of languages, including Spanish, German, French, Hindi, Portuguese, and Italian. When you sign up, please indicate your language skills in the entry form.
