It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Joydeep (Joy) Mukherji, former CFO and key member of iMerit’s early team.
Joy was an exuberant, larger-than-life character whose presence filled and enriched the personal and professional lives of everyone at iMerit. He was a strong leader and CFO, playing a key role in the early years of iMerit and shepherding us through the Seed and Series A rounds with tremendous success. His All-Hands presentations can only be described as “booming”, and were always received with high participation and applause.
He embodied and lived our social mission with passion and took great pride in what we accomplished. His jolly spirit and hearty laugh will forever be present in our memories as someone who loved Kolkata, the people and his iMerit colleagues. He will be greatly missed by the iMerit family and our thoughts go out to his family and friends. Let it be known, the good he did in the world lives on in all of us.
Life can be so illogical at times. Today I’m writing a sorrow message for someone who had been a portrayal of happiness, smiles and liveliness. Will always miss your charm and warmth Joy da. May your family have all the courage and strength to cope with such loss.

As a CFO, Joydeep Mukherjee led his Team in such a way that he exemplified leadership. He always gave energy, commitment and inspiration to his Team and to others with whom he worked. He will always be in our mind as a happy one who not only was cheerful in himself but who gave much cheerfulness to others. He had a beautiful and loud smile, a sense of humor and a gentle demeanor. Our Beloved Joy da was bright, logical and systematic in his thinking. He was always willing to share his ideas and information. Many of us found him to be a splendid person of great intellect and big heart.

He spoke with an unmatched combination of intelligence and passion, but delivered it in a boisterous tone that was powerful yet soothing.
