Radha Basu
Chief Executive Officer
Radha Ramaswami Basu has over 30 years experience in executive management. She is widely recognized as a leading woman entrepreneur in technology companies and as a pioneer in the Indian software business. Radha began her professional career at Hewlett Packard in 1978 as an R&D engineer working on ultrasound imaging technologies.
Radha held the position of Chairman & CEO of Support.com, a Nasdaq-listed company, from July 1999 to May 2006, led the company through initial and secondary public offerings, and built it into a worldwide market leader in support automation software.
In 2006, after retiring from SupportSoft, Radha and her husband Dipak Basu launched Anudip Foundation, a social enterprise in India with the mission of generating livelihood opportunities for the unemployed and marginalized poor through training in information technology.
Radha has had strong influence on women in technology and has coached women professionals in the high-tech industry. She has taught courses at MIT Sloan School of Management on Women and Entrepreneurship and has mentored MBA students as the joint Entrepreneur and Executive-in-Residence at the Simmons School of Management.
In 2009 Radha served as Managing Director of Santa Clara University's Center for Science, Technology and Society (CSTS) whose mission is to promote the use of science and technology through social entrepreneurship to benefit under served communities worldwide. Inspired by the thought provoking stories of entrepreneurs wanting to serve the poorest of the poor but lacking expertise to create innovative and affordable designs, Radha and CSTS are leading the Frugal Innovation initiative. Frugal Innovation addresses the need for low-cost technology solutions in underdeveloped countries. In 2010, Radha was invited as the Dean’s Executive Professor in the School of Engineering.
Radha was born and raised in Chennai. She holds a bachelors degree in Electronics & Communications from the University of Madras, a master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Management program. She has won numerous awards including Excelsior Leadership, Top25 Women of the Web, CEO of the Year 2000, Leader of the Millennium, and has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Upside Magazine and Economic Times. She has featured as a guest speaker at Wharton School, Stanford Business School, Santa Clara University, and the Forbes Executive Summit. Radha serves on the boards of ReSurge, CSTS and C.E.O. Women.
Jayant Sinha
Senior Advisor, Omidyar Network India Advisors
Jayant is managing director of Omidyar Network India Advisors, where he leads overall investment strategy and operations in India.
Jayant holds a MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School, a MS in energy management and policy from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Technology with distinction from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Partho Chatterjee
Director
Mr. Chatterjee served as the CFO of ITC Ltd until retirement in August 2009. Joining in 1974, Mr. Chatterjee worked in various senior positions within ITC Ltd over the last 35 years including the Financial Controller of its Printing & Packaging Division as the Vice President and the Executive Vice President of the Company's biggest business i.e. India Tobacco Division, among others.
Mr. Chatterjee is a member of the Economic Affairs Committee of Confederation of Indian Industries (C11). He has also served in the past as the Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry as well as member of the Economic Affairs & Financial Sector Sub Committee of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Mr. Chatterjee qualified as a Chartered Accountant in November 1971 and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
R. Ramaraj
Director
Ramaraj was the Co-Founder and CEO of Sify Limited, Sify was the first Indian Internet company to be listed on Nasdaq National Market in the US (NASDAQ: SIFY).
Currently Ramaraj is the Senior Advisor at Sequoia Capital. Ramaraj is the first Indian to be invited to the Board of Directors of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). He was a member of the Global Board of Trustees of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs). Ramaraj is a Member of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
In 2010, CII recognized R.Ramaraj with a Life Time Achievement Award for nurturing the Spirit of Entrepreneurship and inspiring and mentoring numerous entrepreneurs. R.Ramaraj holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the University of Madras and a M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
Padma Ravichander
Director
Padma Ravichander comes with 27 years of experience in the IT industry both in North America and in India. She has held various senior roles, driving IT and off-shore strategies for every large multinational corporations.
In 2005, Padma became the Managing Director of Dell/Perot Systems India and Asia Pac and the Global vice President of Perot Systems Consulting and Applications Services unit. Thereafter she joined Mercer as Managing Director for India and South-east Asia in 2008.
Dipak Basu
Director (Anudip Nominee)
Dipak Basu is a founder of Anudip Foundation, iMerit's parent entity, and a co-founder of NetHope, a technology alliance of the world's largest aid agencies. He has held leadership positions in Product Management and Professional Services at Cisco, and was Vice President, Information Networks at CMC Ltd.
In 2001 Dipak founded and served for three years as Executive Director of NetHope, a technology alliance of the world's largest aid agencies, for applying innovative IT solutions to humanitarian operations in the world’s poor, disaster-affected and war-torn regions. He currently leads NetHope’s ICT for Health care initiative.
In 2006 Dipak set up Anudip Foundation, a nonprofit company dedicated to improving livelihoods of rural poor in developing countries through training in information technology and entrepreneurship. As an unique means of creating a sustainable social enterprise, imerit employs its women and minority graduates in a rural BPO that provides world-class project outsourcing services. Dipak currently serves as Chairman of imerit’s Board of Directors.
From 1995 to 2006, Dipak held senior management positions in Product Management and Professional Services at Cisco Systems where his last position was Director, Global Center of Expertise. Dipak is considered a pioneer in Voice over IP and Metro Ethernet technologies.
Prior to Cisco, Dipak served as a consultant to the Government of India. During this time he set up INDONET, India’s first public data network, and voice/data networks for India’s steel, energy, banking and hospitality sectors.
Dipak holds a BTech. from the Indian Institute of Technology and a MSEE from the University of Southern California. He has been a guest lecturer in Computer Science at IIT Delhi. He has won the Tech Laureate award for IT in Humanity for NetHope, and the President's Award from Save the Children. Dipak is a Cisco Leadership Fellow, a Reuters Digital Vision Fellow, and a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.
